Black Dahlia Laminating

Laid down the first layer of glass yesterday on Nic's Black Dahlia. 6oz fiberglass along the bottom with a V-inlay of Volan fiberglass along the tail. The board is definitely turning out to be my favorite so far. Designed to surf aggressive while holding a classic line!

Progress on Nic's custom.

A black board? yes, because there's not enough of them. 9'x18''x22''x2.5''x17'' My take on a pig/chip. I blended aspects of 3 of my favorite boards together. Dagger/Pointer/Fineline SYT.
Super knifed rails, narrow nose, big butt. Still can't tell at this point if you should put a D-fin in it or a Greenough. Hopefully both will work great. If so, that means mission accomplished.

85 degree lunch break in OCT.

Chest/shoulder high waves- average shape, but worth getting out in the sun. Love this time of year!

Sacred Craft Surf Expo in Del Mar

Jeez, after 2 weeks of being sick ...finally back. Never go surfing after it rains..even if it's a drizzle...ugh. So Jane and I went to the Sacred Craft Surf expo on Saturday. Saw a lot of cool shapes, met some cool people and shapers! Thanks to Erik Maki of Maki Longboards for the swaggg!

Me and Rob Machado. I'm pretty sure I still had a bit of a fever during this pic. Look how small this guy is!
This kid was so pissed at his Dad for not knowing how to work his camera. Again...It's like Machado is from land of the little people. No wonder they can ride those toothpick boards!

John Wesley's awesome midlengths. John Wesley surfboards

Ryan Lovelace from Santa Barbara doing one of the fastest shaping jobs I've ever seen!

Jane at the Andy Davis Booth!

I met Mason Dyer at the expo. I had no idea this guy has been shaping these boards. I was in love with the middle one. Flat black deck..aggghh I still want it.

Obligatory Maynard Pictures....
